Description
For my new Tarzan in Pellucidar project, I'd like to introduce some of the dinosaurs and other creatures that live in the underground world that Tarzan will soon venture into! I have been sure to take close reference from Edgar Rice Burroughs' original creation, but have still taken some liberties with my own version - for instance, my Dyrodors CANNOT use their plates to glide
- DYRODORS - Stegosaurs; their size and natural weaponry protects them from most predators - with the exception of the zariths
- ZARITHS - Tyrannosaurs and - predictably - apex predators; huge, dangerous and virtually fearless
- DYRYTHS - Giant ground sloths, similar to Megatherium; armed with long, powerful tails and huge claws
- JALOKS - Shaggy-haired predators; descended from the ancient creodont Hyaenodon
- ORTHOPIS - Small herbivorous ungulates; they rely on their speed to escape predators
- GYORS - Apparently descended from Triceratops, though these herbivores also have long spikes on their frills, similar to those of Styracosaurus
