Fauna of Pellucidar 4 by Khialat Fauna of Pellucidar 4 by Khialat
For my fourth entry on Pellucidar's creatures, I added in requests by :iconkinghuffy2: (for sauropods) and :icongeneralhelghast: (for spinosaurs and iguanodontids). After this, I will focus on my actual story of Tarzan's adventures here:

- LIDIS - Sauropods, likely descended from diplodocids; at 35m long, they are easily Pellucidar's biggest animals; characterized by the row of protective spikes on their necks' undersides
- Adult Lidis have virtually nothing to fear, but youngsters are often targeted by Jaloks, Zariths, Diusoths and even the Mahars and Thipdars
- HONBOS - Iguanadontids, likely descended from Muttaburrasaurus; inflatable sacs in their snouts (brightly coloured in the males) enable them to produce booming calls
- Other dinosaurs, like lone Gyors, often accompany Honbo herds for mutual safety
- DIUSOTHS - Spinosaurids; like their ancestors, they will gladly hunt both in and out of water; often fight young Zariths for territory
- Sithics live in constant wariness of Diusoths, the only predators that can chase them down in water
- KLIRIS - Leptictids; able to glide between trees like flying squirrels

Insert sounds from Walking with Dinosaurs/Prehistoric Beasts for Leptictidiums, Iguanodons(Or Disney's Dinosaur), and Diplodocus(a dinosaur that I find very personal as a kid, especially since that was my first sauropod dinosaur I can remember as a little kid. Most others would think Apatosaurus/Brontosaurus), and the Jurassic Park 3 sounds for the Spinosaurus.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I had in mind :D Except I actually was thinking of Walking With Dinosaurs' Muttaburrasaurus (from the South Pole episode) for my Hondos.

S'okay. You're right, though - Jurassic Park, Walking With Dinosaurs, Disney' Dinosaur, Planet Dinosaur - that kind of stuff tends to be in my head when it comes to dinos :)

Me too, because that's how I feel the dinosaurs would sound like.

Lidis(Diplodocus) I remember were in the books but the rest are made up is it? Though they are real creatures but the names were made up, is it?

I have a few species that you could use:

Rith (Giant bear)
Thag (Aurochs creature)
Sadok (Arsinoitherium creature)
Ta-Ho-Az (Smaller plesiosaur)
Aztarag (Most likely a mosasaur)
Hydrophidian (Snakelike eel monster)
Codon (Dire wolf as big as a pony)
Trodon (Dragon-like beast)
Ta-ho (Spotted lion)
Maj (Mastodon)
Ant bear (Enormous predator of the giant ants: therizinosaur, perhaps?)

Creatures never given native names:
Cave hyena
A giant snake species
Anatotitan (Was called Trachodon in the books)
A unique species of antelope with backwards spiraling horns and a coat like a zebra's
Giant Dimorphodon
Deinotherium
Platybelodon
Tiny herbivorous cetaceans
Uintatheres of an unknown species
Dimetrodon
Archaeopteryx
Brontotherium
Baluchitherium/Indricotherium
A giant octopus

Species not native to Pellucidar, but would fit well in it:
Gryf (Colorful omnivorous Triceratops descendant; native to Pal-ul-don)
Jato (Looks like a hybrid of saber-toothed cat and lion; Machairodus descendant? Native to Pal-ul-don)
Garth (Another tyrannosaur, could be made into a carnosaur or carcharodontosaur; native to Pal-ul-don)
Argus (Giant eagle big enough to be ridden by a human; native to Pal-ul-don)
Krek (An immense crocodile; native to a lost world created by a Edward Bulwer-Lytton)
Seemorgh (An immense bird with a twenty-foot wingspan; created by William R. Bradshaw)

Animals of the Lost World (All can be changed into new species):
Iguanodon
Ichthyosaurus
Pterodactylus
Megaloceros
Glyptodon
Toxodon
Agathaumas
Brachiosaurus
Hypsilophodon
Entelodon

Skull Island species that would fit well here:
Ferrucuttus
Gladiodon
Venatosaurus
Ligocristus
Foetodon
Sylvaceratops
Piranhadon
Malamagnus

Races:
Horibs
Beast-men
Gorbuses
Ganaks
Saber-toothed men

Thanks for the ideas, but I feel like I've already got plenty of animals so far. I may add in more later, but at my own pace.

Very nice. It warms my heart to see the Lidi of Pellucidar. I loved that some of the tribesmen had domesticated them as draft animals...

Ah, well, my version is really more of a LOOSE adaptation, just like my other Tarzan stuff. But I do try and fill it with references for old fans to notice ;)

Well, I already have lots of plans for the next four pages:
- The silver-haired Mangani apes kidnapping Jane and taking her to Pellucidar
- Tarzan and a company of friends enter Pellucidar and meet giant ants
- The tyrannical Mahars and the Thipdars and Sagoths they command
- The tribes of Pellucidar

But what ideas can you offer?

Silver haired? Is that a reference to Congo with the grey gorillas?

Well, I was also thinking of the Mangani shown in Disney's "The Legend of Tarzan", though my rendition will be closer to Burroughs' brutal originals.

Maybe Kasuku telling Tarzan about Jane's kidnapping, Tantor being introduced as Tarzan's friend and ride...Mbwa and Jad-Bal-Ja following Tarzan, Jad-Bal-Ja coming across the saber-toothed cats...

Ah, yes, they were fun. I based them mainly on Suchomimus (Rudy in Ice Age 3 always struck me as closer to that than a Baryonyx)
