Manimal Island - Characters

More from my alternative rendition of H. G. Wells' The Island of Doctor Moreau. Here I give you some of the central characters:
- EDWARD PRENDICK - Aristocratic castaway from the Lady Vain ship; his time stranded on Moreau's island dramatically changes his perspective on class division and mankind's treatment of animals
- DR. MARTIN MOREAU - Driven and ambitious, this geneticist seeks to obtain the ability to convert "brutish" animals into "civilised" beings equal to - or even "better" than - humans
- TIM MONTGOMERY - Moreau's assistant, who helps keep the beast-folk in line with his revolvers, whips and staghounds; notably, he discovers and nurses Prendick to health - at the same time taking a blood sample for Moreau to use
- M'LING - A bear-creature who serves as Moreau and Montgomery's butler; they call him the most "civilised" of the beast-folk, but he reminds Prendick more of a performing circus animal
- ORLO - Moreau's St. Bernard dog, and his very first test subject (was not exposed to the formula in his youth, and thus remains mainly "dog-like")
