Tarzan in Pellucidar - Mangani by Khialat Tarzan in Pellucidar - Mangani by Khialat
A long-in-production entry for my Tarzan in Pellucidar project, featuring my own rendition of the Mangani. With my version of Tarzan raised by gorillas (as portrayed by Disney and other modern adaptations), the Mangani are another species here, retaining some of the brutal, vicious ways described in the original stories. They are also instrumental in launching our jungle hero's adventures in Pellucidar.

- A secretive and hostile race of silver-haired apes who inhabit the forbidding rocky valley know as Chulk's Maw; gorillas, whom they call "Bolgani", prefer to avoid them
- Professor Porter - by now at home enough in the jungle to even dress similarly to Tarzan and Jane - accidentally found himself near Chulk's Maw; the Mangani soon ambushed him, but Kasuku brought Tarzan, Jane and Jad-Bal-Ja into the area to rescue him
- GOBU and TIKA - Taking an interest in Jane, the Mangani decided to use her in an affair they were planning; two young siblings, Gobu and Tika, were sent to follow her back to Tarzan's home and abduct her
- Gobu, who had been wounded by Jane, was eager for payback, but his more level-headed sister reminded him that they needed the young woman alive and unharmed
- Alerted by Kasuku yet again, Tarzan - accompanied by Jad, Mbwa and the Professor - immediately set off to save his mate; they ended up venturing into the Chulk's Maw's caves - and into the underground lost land Pellucidar

Tarzan and related characters originally created by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

You may have noticed the scars I added on the males' faces. Wanted to give the idea that they spend a lot of time fighting - often with each other!

Actually, yes. I did notice the scars. Guess they really are that violent, then. I'd definitely hate to encounterany of those.:)

Very interesting. It's a nice spin on the apes from the original books. :)

Cool. And the Magani do kind of look like the grey gorillas from Congo.

Yeah, I know what you mean. They're aggressive like them too.
