Whoa... just saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and I'll avoid spoiling how things turn out, but let's just say if there is another film, it will be VERY interesting to see what happens next. That said, this one was definitely worth the watch! A total thrill ride, which I recommend seeing if you can
A word on villains
Villains - they're all over our stories and popular culture, and always have been. While we revile and punish people guilty of such crimes and attitudes in real life, characters who do much the same (to varying degrees of "realism") are repeatedly shown in the pages of books and comics and on screens. Generally, the approach with fictional villains has always been that, while clearly meant to be "bad guys", the viewer is still free to decide for themselves how they respond to them. Do you hate them, or "love to hate" them? Do you think their eventual comeuppance (or, occasionally, lack thereof) was well deserved? Do you find them at least partially relatable or sympathetic? Is it wrong to laugh if they have comedic moments, however cruel or twisted those might be? Or to hope that, by some twist of fate, villains just might get a chance to redeem themselves? I remember first discovering the website TV Tropes in 2008, in the middle of my often fragile and neurotic teen years, and seeing
Inside Out 2 - Anxiety Takes Over
In this upcoming sequel, Anxiety not only arrives, but absolutely takes over Riley's mind, "bottles up" the emotions we're already familiar with and takes Riley's worries about being judged by others to new heights. Honestly, that's so relatable it hurts. Personal confession: I've been taking citalopram every morning since roughly around the end of 2010, largely as a result of the trauma and depression from particular medical mishaps (I'll spare you the exact details) that I suffered from in my late teens and early twenties. While not life-threatening, they were still painful, unpleasant, made me miserable and required surgery to fix. In one case, I needed it THREE TIMES :'(
New Loud House + VivziePop folder
Due to the sheer SIZE my popular crossover has reached, I've decided to follow advice I've received in the past and give it its own folder separate from my other Loud House art, which you can see here: Khialat - Hobbyist, General Artist | DeviantArt I've also been asked by :iconmemearcwar: to do more with my demon design for Ronnie Anne - I'm open to ideas for art and story arcs with her ;)
Okay... this really hurt :(
I recently got notes from someone saying that I was "not a REAL Owl House fan", and that I've been "missing the point" by not focusing on the LGBTQ+ representation in my fanart, and that the show "dropped the ball" by redeeming the Collector because he was "a worse threat than Belos" and was "too dangerous to be left alive", and that I "need to get my morals straight". Needless to say, I blocked them and deleted those notes, but... honestly, it still hurts to be reminded that there are people out there who think that. I mean, one of The Owl House's main themes is acceptance and tolerance, isn't it? Not just in terms of the LGBTQ+ stuff (which I have NEVER had any kind of problem with, BTW), but also when it comes to just being a bit different or eccentric in any way - i.e. a "weirdo". The show comfortingly assures us that there's nothing wrong with that, so long as you still try to be nice and don't hurt other people - and even if you do, you CAN be forgiven if you understand what you
